Finally, the last post before the 2007 show commences, consisting of a brief description of what to expect on the night/s (for those of you who cannot read the info on the flyers because the lovely pictures raptured you so).

2006 DVD AVAILABLE

At this point we are also ecstatic to announce that the DVD of the 2006 "ajax and friends" concert will be on sale at the 2007 show. Cover artwork by Louis Minnaar, interface design by Shane Durant. It's looking freakin good, boys and girls, get yourself a copy at the 2007 show for a measly R90, (2 hours of footage of ajax, spitizen, desmond and the tutus, rhinoshirt, wiam otto, SHU performing live). The DVD was shot and edited by Cornell Louw of Choke Films.

THE OFFICIAL 2007 FLYERS

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! the time has come to announce the wonderful news that the ultimate ending of the world is very hard to figure out. And also that the 2007 ajax and friends show is officially advertised with the following flyers (as well as "the ajax and friends group" on facebook). Every designer's name will be credited above his/her exquisite flyer design. Feel free to download and e-mail these babies all over the earth, including your homies in switzerland and budapest.

the great idea

One day as ajax was contending with a tempest in Rotterdam, an idea struck him. An idea that would justify the word "annual". The love and the beauty and the warmth and the intimacy of what had happened in 2006 should never cease! Why should 2007 feel alone and left out? He would do something about it...

Upon hearing of the idea, mr. jacob israel immediately embraced ajax. I mean ajax's vision. And they were both thoroughly pleased with the idea of the 2007 show. Jacob suggested the idea of a "live surround show", and once again the pleasedness was good.

some of ajax's other friends who could sing lovelier things than he could were also very happy when he spoke to them of the great idea, and some even began to sing spontaneously.


Both Tamith and Cindy, pictured here, had also featured in the 2006 adventure, and wilfully manned part of an 8 piece choir for the 2007 epic.

One thing just led to another so quickly...

And before it had even really begun, ajax was alone on the stage feeling like a personified verse of "teeth in the grass" by iron & wine. Flavoured with the chorus of "Family Secrets" by subseven and watered down with "Vito's ordination song" by sufjan stevens. And breathing hard like "about a burning fire" by the best band on Earth. The 2006 show was over.

At this point in this account it might also be important to mention that a certain mr. jacob israel, another old friend of ajax, was lodged in the audience that fateful night, even though he didn't stay for the whole show because he had something important to do like eat sushi or invite squarepusher as a myspace friend.
